A video documentation of an intervention-based work titled “bLANDalism”, by Karl Umber. The desk on which the video monitor sits is an original piece from the King Edward school. The soundtrack is based upon Tennessee Ernie Ford’s “Sixteen Tons” performed and recorder by Mike Tod. The videographer is Ivan Ostapenko.


Karl Umber is the CEO and founder of the bLANDalism movement. Founded in 2010, bLANDalism strives to preserve all mundane urban spaces in an attempt to maintain uniformity and order. Karl is an accredited social studies expert and has logged many hours of people watching.
