WSKEO at International Day of Persons with Disabilities Celebration

(Making Connections Across the Ability Spectrum #2)

Let’s continue to create and maintain healthy, authentic relationships between people across the ability spectrum!

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is celebrated worldwide as a way to honour the experiences and contributions of people who identify as disabled, and to re-affirm this community’s rights in the face of continuing challenges.

This year, Calgary’s celebration of IDPD will include:

  • A showcase of inspiring members of the disability community
  • Short films from “Picture This…” International Disability Film Festival
  • Presentation of the Premier’s Council and Community Impact Awards
  • Great opportunities to connect with people from across the ability spectrum!

Too often, we let fear or discomfort prevent us from interacting with those with different ability-sets or bodies. It is up to us to break down those barriers!

Whether you identify as disabled or not, this event is for you. If you feel that this is at the edge of your comfort zone (or beyond!), this event is for you. This is a safe, respectful, meet-and-greet space for all participants to explore connection and to learn something new.

This event is located in a wheelchair-accessible space. If you have questions, concerns, or require other accommodations, please contact Emily at ejhutche@gmail.com.
